Fishing Reports

5-19-19

Scattered bass and blues off the local beaches was the word yesterday as some locations produced and others didn't. Heard of a couple nice bass after dark that hit clams and bunker chunks. The back and the Toms River was good again yesterday with blues hitting bunker for the bait fisherman off the local docks and there was a decent plug bite in the river with blues hitting poppers before dark. We have plenty of fresh clams and fresh bunker.

Good Luck to everyone fishing the Governors Surf Fishing Tournament today on IBSP.

Some good reports came in from the surf yesterday from a few guys who were fishing different areas. Bass and blues hitting both bait and artificials. Bunker chunks, clams and mullet worked in different locations. Poppers, swimmers and metals worked for those moving. The bay and the Toms River remains hot. Short bass by the bridge hitting shads and small swimmers and blues all around hitting bunker chunks, metals, poppers and swimmers. Those trolling are picking up blues in various sizes. We are loaded up with bait for the weekend so stop in and pick up what you need. The Hook House will be open until 10 PM tonight and reopen at 3:30 AM for everyone fishing in the Governors Surf Fishing Tournament Sunday.

Good day off the local beaches with plenty of blues, shorts and a few keeper bass yesterday. Bunker chunks and clams worked for the bait fisherman and Metals, poppers and swimmers worked for those moving with artificials. Some short bass reported from a couple of our customers who fished the bridge last night using shads and X-Raps. Sharon Franz along with Dennis and Maryanne found 3-4 pound blues by boat trolling the mouth of the Toms River with Baker Lures. Christopher Rodgers found some gator blues by boat at another location. 3-4 pound blues were picked up this morning on the Ocean Gate side of the river hitting Super Strike Polaris poppers. More fresh bunker and fresh clams came in today and we are loaded up with all the frozen baits as well.

Decent bite off the surf last night was the word with blues hitting bunker chunks and artificials as well. The back bay and the Toms River is producing blues and depending on the spot and who you talk to the reports are 5-6 pounders in one spot and gators up to 15 pounds in another. Bunker chunks for the bait and waters and metals poppers and swimmers are working for those moving with artificials. We heard their is a good bluefish bite at the canal also especially at dusk and after dark.
