Fishing Reports

5-27-14

It was a good day on the local beaches with lots of Blues keeping anglers rods bent. Bunker chunks, poppers and metal is all working. We had a nice 24.5lb Bass brought in by Kevin Moririson he caught on IBSP on clams.

The back bay and Toms River is producing cocktail sized blues on bunker chunks, poppers and small swimmers.

We have Fresh Clams and Fresh Bunker in both shops.

It seems that it was a little slow on the surf yesterday from what most of our customers were saying. A couple blues here and there but nothing major. The boat guys did well yesterday morning right off the beach snagging and dropping or trolling with bunker spoons with some large fish being caught.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone from all of us at Murphy's Hook House and Go Fish Bait and Tackle.

Mostly Blues yesterday taking bunker chunks and mullet on the surf again with some Bass hanging with them. If you are heading out and baitfishing be patient and be ready. Poppers, metals and swimmers are also working well for the Blues. Don't forget your bunker snag.

The Bluefish bite around the Rt. 37 bridge and in the river continues. Dennis picked up a few in his boat again yesterday trolling our hand made ponytails and also throwing small swimmers. There was some good action on the West side of the bay yesterday with blues and bass chasing bunker. A 15 lb bass was taken hitting a popper in the Cedar Creek area.

Some nice sized Blues and a few keeper Bass in the surf again yesterday taking clams and bunker chunks in the Seaside and IBSP area. Fresh Clams and Bunker came in yesterday.

Billy and Matt Hayes were fishing in their boat off of Island Beach State Park and brought in 3 Bass all in the 34 pound range. They were snagging and dropping bunker.

Dennis was out in his boat yesterday afternoon and found some cocktail size Blues in the bay and river. Small swimmers and poppers are working on "both" sides of the river from shore as well.

Not much going on yesterday due to the weather but it is opening day for Fluke today. We have killies and a wide assortment of Gulp in stock as well as all the frozen baits needed. Fresh Clams and Bunker are also in both shops.
