Fishing Reports

11-6-17

There was some bass around yesterday off the surf hitting bunker chunks and clams. We heard of a few more taking artificials with a teaser. The blackfish bite at the canal was pretty good the last couple of days as well and we heard of a couple nice bass last night from a couple guys fishing eels. We have fresh clams, fresh bunker, green crabs and more live eels came in today.

Note: the new Star 7000 reels came into Murphy's so for those of you who have been waiting stop in and pick one up before they are gone.

Scattered short bass with a few keepers mixed in off the local beaches yesterday along with a few small blues. Move around with artificials and a teaser if you can. For the bait and waiters bunker chunks and clams are the baits of choice. Northeast winds today so bring the heavy metals and don't forget a bunker snag just in case they get pushed in close enough. More fresh clams and fresh bunker came in yesterday afternoon and we have plenty of mullet and salted clams in pints and quarts.

There were some fish around early morning, at dusk and into the night yesterday off the surf. Mostly shorts but a few keepers were reported. Bunker chunks and clams for the bait and waiters and those moving with swimmers (SP's) with a teaser found some fish. One of our customers came in just after dark and said he had 3 shorts on IBSP using a Jetty Ghost Rainfish with a teaser at dusk and all 3 fish hit in the wash. Those fishing live eels at the canal are doing well after dark picking up bass ranging in size. We have Fresh Clams and plenty of fresh bunker along with live eels and green crabs so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.

Looks like things might be picking up off the surf as there were shorts and a few keeper bass hitting bait and plugs yesterday. The night bite was a little better for a couple guys throwing plugs with a teaser and moving. Short bass again were reported from the back bay and the Toms River and moving around is the key to finding them. More live eels and fresh clams came in today and we have plenty of fresh bunker and green crabs.

Get out there.

There were a few short bass around off the surf last night hitting plugs with a teaser in front for a few guys moving around and finding them. The back bay and the Toms River continues to produce shorts on small swimmers and swim shads at dusk and after dark. Brian Lindner and company picked up a couple nice blackfish yesterday along with 2 dozen large blueclaws. We just got in more fresh bunker and we have green crabs, live eels and plenty of salted clams and we are hoping to have fresh clams this afternoon.
