Fishing Reports

5-23-19

Good bluefish bite off the local beaches yesterday for a number of our customers. Bunker chunks was the bait of choice and SP Minnows and poppers worked for those throwing artificials moving and finding fish. The back and the Toms River produced blues again whether you were fishing by boat or off the local docks. The night bite with bunker chunks and mullet has been pretty good for the bait and waiters off the local docks. Tomorrow is opening day for fluke and we are loaded up with all the frozen baits, Gulp and killies. More fresh clams and bunker came in today.

Blues ranging in size along with a few bass off the local beaches the last couple of days hitting bunker chunks and clams for the bait fisherman. those moving with SP Minnows, metals, bucktails and poppers are picking up fish as well. The back bay and the Toms River remains good with all the blues roaming around in our area. Frank Golda fished the bridge with his father and Mark by boat and picked up a couple big blues and some short bass closer to the bridge. More fresh bunker came in today.

Scattered bass and blues off the local beaches was the word yesterday as some locations produced and others didn't. Heard of a couple nice bass after dark that hit clams and bunker chunks. The back and the Toms River was good again yesterday with blues hitting bunker for the bait fisherman off the local docks and there was a decent plug bite in the river with blues hitting poppers before dark. We have plenty of fresh clams and fresh bunker.

Good Luck to everyone fishing the Governors Surf Fishing Tournament today on IBSP.

Some good reports came in from the surf yesterday from a few guys who were fishing different areas. Bass and blues hitting both bait and artificials. Bunker chunks, clams and mullet worked in different locations. Poppers, swimmers and metals worked for those moving. The bay and the Toms River remains hot. Short bass by the bridge hitting shads and small swimmers and blues all around hitting bunker chunks, metals, poppers and swimmers. Those trolling are picking up blues in various sizes. We are loaded up with bait for the weekend so stop in and pick up what you need. The Hook House will be open until 10 PM tonight and reopen at 3:30 AM for everyone fishing in the Governors Surf Fishing Tournament Sunday.
