Fishing Reports

11-14-18

Scattered is the word off the surf the last couple of days. Baiting and waiting in a couple spots produced mostly shorts on bunker chunks and clams while other spots got nothing. Didn't hear much from those moving during the day either. The night bite for those "MOVING" with artificials with a teaser off the local beaches produced some shorts. Back bay and both sides of the Tome River is good in a couple spots. Find a cove and the bait with small swimmers and poppers for some short bass. If they are not in one spot try moving. Live eels at the canal produced for a couple customers last night. More fresh bunker came into the Hook House and we have live eels, fresh clams and green crabs.

For the freshwater fisherman we still have killies, Nightcrawlers, trout worms and garden worms.

All Rockfish Candy Mojos, single and tandem on sale 35% off till gone.

Don't forget Tica Tuesday with 20% off rods 11-20-18.

Scattered bass early yesterday morning in a couple spots for a couple bait fisherman before the rain. Winds shifted to the West / Northwest so it's at your back off the surf today. Heard of a "late" night / early morning bite in the Island Heights area with short bass in the river. Multiple customers came in for eels last night to hit the canal before we closed but didn't hear anything yet. Nice day and good conditions to hit the beach so get out there if you can.

Heard of a few bass yesterday during the day and after dark on bait and artificials but by no means nothing major. Bring the rain gear if your heading out today. Jim Mathis released 2 shorts this morning on IBSP that hit white Kettle Creek shads. We have fresh bunker, live eels, fresh clams and green crabs at the Hook House. Weather looks good for the weekend so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.

Scattered short with some keeper bass off the local beaches yesterday. For the bait and waiters a few guys caught while others reported nothing. Those moving with artificials picked up fish in a couple spots yesterday. Swim Shads, SP Minnows and metals with a teaser in front did the trick for a couple customers. One of our customers picked up 3 shorts after dark on IBSP using a black and purple (blurple) SP Minnow with a black teaser. Two fish took the teaser and the other one the plug. Short bass by the bridge and in the Toms River before and after dark last night hitting swim shads, small swimmers and poppers. The bass bite at the canal remains good for those fishing live eels after dark.

Not many fisherman out the last couple of days due to the weather but for the few that were out we heard of shorts with a few keepers off the local beaches. Reports of sandeels in the area so break out the slim metals. Jetty Ghost slims and keeled sandeels are very popular along with AOK T-Hex, Deadly Dicks and AVA's. A teaser is always a good idea in front of your lures. Short bass on the Ocean Gate side of the river last night for a couple guys moving with small poppers and swimmers. We have fresh bunker, fresh clams, live eels and green crabs.
