Fishing Reports

7-12-18

A few keeper fluke in the 19 inch range were picked up on IBSP yesterday morning from a couple of customers throwing bucktails with a teaser. The back bay, the Toms River and local lagoons are producing small snappers hitting spearing on a snapper rig and a bobber. Gregg Wildermuth released 8 short bass up to 26 inches that were hitting top water plugs at daybreak this morning in the Manasquan River. Crabbing on both sides of the Toms River was very good yesterday. One of our customers filled a bushel basket in less than 2 hours and was catching them two at a time. Fresh clams came into the Hook House today and we have fresh bunker, live eels and plenty of killies.

Fluke off the surf again yesterday for those moving with bucktails tipped with Gulp. Jetty Ghost Mullnut's with a teaser in front have been a popular choice for the surf fisherman and the boaters fishing the bays and rivers. We heard of a couple short bass yesterday off the local beaches. Billy Meyer released a short bass while jigging for fluke. Shark fishing at night has been good with them hitting bunker chunks. Crabs on both sides of the Toms River is producing nice catches for a number of customers. We have fresh bunker and plenty of killies in stock.

Fluke was the word off the surf yesterday from Ortley, Lavalette and IBSP as one of our customers picked up a bunch of shorts and had a keeper. He said Gulp Nuclear Chicken on a bucktail with a teaser was what they wanted. Another customer said the same thing "this morning already". He had 8 fluke with one being a keeper in the Lavalette area and he also picked up a keeper bass. Nuclear Chicken must have been the color because all fish this morning hit Gulp. Keeper bass in the 20 lb range are being picked up at the canal for those fishing eels after dark  Crabbing on both sides of the Toms River was good yesterday according to a number of people. More fresh bunker came in yesterday and we have plenty of killies and live eels in stock.

Our new Hook House shirts are going fast so stop in and grab one before they are gone.
