Fishing Reports

8-17-17

A little quiet off the surf yesterday so I guess everyone was snapper fishing and crabbing in the back  bay and the river. Fresh bunker came in along with more live eels and killies.

Not many fisherman out yesterday due to the weather but for a few who hit IBSP and targeted fluke did pretty well. Bucktails tipped with Gulp and Jetty Ghost Mullnuts with a teaser in front did the trick for a couple guys. Already heard of a few decent keepers today off of IBSP. Plenty of snappers in the wash hitting small metals so if you catch one try live lining it. Snappers in the back bay and the Toms River keeping people busy using spearing on a snapper rig, metals and snapper poppers. Another decent short bass bite in a couple spots in the Toms River last night on small swimmers. Get out there if you can.

Snapper, kingfish and some fluke off the surf yesterday. Short bass at dusk and after dark in the back bay and the Toms river hitting small swimmers. Crabbing is picking up and there are plenty of snappers to keep you busy. We have fresh bunker, live eels, killies and shiners for the freshwater fisherman in stock at Murphy's.

Snappers in the surf chasing small metals and being chased by fluke. Fluke also hitting bucktails with a teaser and they could be closer than you think. Short bass in the back bay at night hitting small swimmers in a few locations. Crabbing in the river is picking up daily but there are a lot of shorts. Plenty of snappers on both sides of the Toms River to keep you busy.

Decent fluke action off the surf yesterday especially on IBSP for those targeting them and taking advantage of the 2 fish at 16 inches. Bucktails tipped with Gulp and a teaser might get you dinner. Kingfish around as well if you want to gear down with a kingfish rig with some clams, Gulp bloodworms or Fishbites. Plenty of snappers in the wash also. Sharks at night hitting fresh bunker and Mackerel. Johnny G and company weighed in 6 keeper fluke in between 3 1/2 and 5 3/4 pounds at Go Fish yesterday. Crabbing is picking up a little in the river and there are plenty of snappers all over to keep you busy. Fresh clams came in yesterday and we have fresh bunker with more coming in today along with killies and live eels.

Today 8-11-17 is the last day to take advantage of our in stock Penn Conventional combo sale. All combos will be 20% off so stop in and pick one up.
