Fishing Reports

5-16-18

Shorts off the surf with a few keepers in a couple spots for those throwing bait. Scattered blues along the local beaches. Those moving with artificials are finding fish. Blues on the Pine Beach and Ocean Gate side of the Toms River the last two mornings hitting poppers and other artificials.

We got in a large delivery yesterday to the Hook House including more rod combos so we are stocked up for the Governor's Tourny this weekend.

A decent amount of short bass were reported off the surf along with a few keepers from a couple spots. Clams and bunker chunks worked for the bait fisherman. More blues are moving into the back bay and the Toms River. Bunker chunks is the way to go if your bait fishing for them and bloods are still working for the short bass. One of our customers picked up a 33 inch bass in the river and through back 4 shorts yesterday all on bloodworms. We have bloods, fresh clams, fresh bunker and live eels at the Hook House.

Right place and right time is the deal off the surf. Clams and bunker chunks for the bait and waiters. Those moving with artificials are cashing in at certain locations. More blues are showing up in the back and the Toms River as a few gators were picked up last night in the Ocean Gate area. Steve Domanski weighed in an 8.2 pound blue this morning that he got on bunker chunks in the Toms River. We have live eels at the Hook House along with plenty of fresh clams and fresh bunker.

Happy Mothers Day from all of us at the Hook House, Go Fish bait & Tackle and A-Z Embroidery.

It was a pick of bass and blues in a few spots off the surf yesterday. If you were moving your odds increased. One of our customers picked up a 26 inch and a 22 inch blue trolling Kettle Creek shads by the bridge at dusk last night. He also picked up a short bass. Live eels came in to the Hook House yesterday along with Fresh Clams and bloodworms. We have plenty of fresh bunker as well. The rain stopped so get out there if you can.

Blues were in the news yesterday especially at the Manasquan inlet as the Murphy crew picked up some gators on artificials. Bass, blues and some black drum were picked up again yesterday off the surf in a few locations. Clams and bunker chunks is getting done if your fishing bait but those throwing artificials and "Moving" are finding fish. Shorts in the river last night hitting bloods and one of our customers picked up a nice blue on a popper at dusk. More fresh bunker came in today and we have fresh clams and bloods at the Hook House so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.
