Fishing Reports

6-16-17

Quiet during the day yesterday off the surf but there were blues popping up again at dusk and after dark hitting bunker and metals, poppers and swimmers for those "moving" with artificials in a few spots. Beaches should be empty today so get out there if you can.

Some blues showed up last night off the surf before dark for the incoming tide and those throwing artficials got into them in a couple spots. Poppers and SP Minnows worked for those moving and finding the locations where they popped up. One of our customers picked up 2 keeper fluke off of IBSP using a Jetty Ghost Mullnut (flo yellow) with a teaser in front. Cocktail blues and short bass still hitting small swimmers and swim shads in the back bay and in the Toms River especially before and after dark in a handful of locations. The overnight pots are picking up crabs when left out for a night or two but the local docks and piers has been a little slow but should pick up any day hopefully. We have bunker, clams, killies and eels in stock at both shops so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.

Not many fisherman out yesterday and for those who were it was hit or miss again off the surf. If you were moving your odds increased. More fresh bunker came in as well as live eels.

Hit or miss off the surf yesterday if you were staying in one spot and fishing bait. Those who were moving on IBSP found blues in a couple spots using artificials. Move around if you can. More fresh bunker came in.

A few decent size bass were picked up off the surf yesterday along with blues and some fluke. Still plenty of cocktail size blues in the back along with short bass early morning and at dusk and after dark hitting small swimmers and swim shads. A lot of short fluke were reported yesterday from the back from a few boat fisherman. Brian Lindner picked up shorts and had one keeper along with cocktail blues. The Murphy crew did well with fluke last night with a few nice keepers. More fresh bunker came in today and we have fresh clams, killies and live eels in stock at both shops.
