Fishing Reports

8-29-18

Same old story same old song and dance off the surf with fluke and small blues but a few customers are picking up some sharks at night on bunker chunks at a couple spots. Greg Wildermuth released a nice 28 inch bass today in the Manasquan River and check out the video on our Facebook page. One of our customers Dale picked up 2-4 pound blues that were chasing bunker outside of the Barnegat Inlet. Crabbing and snapper fishing remains the same on both sides of the Toms River.

Nothing has really changed off the surf as small blues and fluke continue to be the target off the local beaches. The blowfish bite in the bay has been good in between the BB and BI bouy.

Not much has changed off the surf with fluke and small blues. Bunker chunks and mullet is the way to go for the bait and waiters while bucktails and small metals is the way to go for those moving and throwing artificials. The fluke bite has picked up a little for a few customers fishing the back bay in between the BB and BI bouy and by the lighthouse. The blowfish bite is getting good for those targeting them by anchoring and chumming. One of our customers picked up 100 plus and only kept "the larger" ones. Billy Meyer picked up his limit of snappers back in the river yesterday so if your crabbing give the snappers a shot. We have fresh bunker, live eels and plenty of killies so stop in either shop and pick up what you need on your way out.

Fluke and small blues is still the game off the surf. The Jetty Ghost Mullnut is producing both. Blowfish in the bay between the BB and BI bouy for those anchoring and chumming for them. One of our customers picked up a bunch yesterday and they were nice sized. Bob Spennato fished the Sea Girt Reef yesterday and picked up 4 keeper fluke up to 7 lbs. Crabs are a pick on both sides of the river but the snappers will keep you busy.

The Hook House got a couple large deliveries this week which includes surf rods and surf rod combos so if your looking to gear up for the Fall run stop in and check them out.
