Fishing Reports

8-2-18

Aside from crabs and snappers in the river it was quiet yesterday.

Mostly short fluke off the surf was the word from a couple of customers yesterday. One of our customers and son picked up a few Jetty Ghost Mullnuts along with bucktail and teaser rigs and tipped a single hook with pearl white Gulp as the teaser. About an hour and a half later he called back and said they were getting shorts on just about every cast on IBSP. Fred Dorski picked up 3 dozen keeper crabs yesterday as there is plenty of action on both sides of the river if you put your time in. Snapper blues are keeping families busy while crabbing.

Fluke off the surf the last couple of days was your best bet with bucktails tipped with Gulp and a teaser. Pat Murphy picked up a couple nice fluke up to 5 pounds 4 ounces fishing on the Norma K III. Brian Lindner picked up a nice fluke fishing outside the Manasquan Inlet. The canal produced a few decent bass for a couple guys fishing live eels at night. Snapper fishing in the bay and the Toms River remains good. If you see a drop off in crabs that is due to the past full moon and them shedding (molt) and it will pick up again shortly. We have fresh bunker, fresh clams, live eels and killies so stop in and pick up what you need on your way out.

Good reports of fluke yesterday off the local beaches and especially IBSP from those targeting them with bucktails tipped with Gulp and a teaser. Rays stealing rods out of rod holders from a couple guys not paying attention. Short bass hitting shads by the bridge. Snappers and crabs on both sides of the Toms River was good again yesterday. More fresh bunker and fresh clams came in and we have plenty of live eels and killies.

For those of you who have been waiting for Jetty Ghost Mullnut's they came in today to the Hook House in all the popular colors so stop in and grab one or two before they are gone.
